The homes of nearly 1.9 million people in Manila and surrounding areas were inundated in the weekend flooding, the National Disaster Coordinating Council said. Nearly 380,000 people have sought shelter in schools, churches, and other evacuation centers. The council said 246 were confirmed dead late Tuesday September 29, with 38 missing.
The PAANC is actively soliciting financial donations to help flood victims in Manila and surrounding communities.
Financial donations are preferred rather than material goods and items due to: a) custom regulations; and b) flood victims and recipients of financial assistance are able to address their particular needs; and c) their purchase of local commodities, food supplies, medicines, etc., will, in turn, assist local producers and manufacturers in the Philippines.
PAANC requires transparency and accountability when it allocates donated funds, 100% of which will be given to flood victims via non-profit organizations in the Philippines. Per usual and customary practice, PAANC shall issue a financial report, along with a list of donors.
What can we do?
Write a tax deductible check donation to PAANC; Indicate "Flood" at bottom memo/for line; and mail it to 1309 Spring Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.
Our Kababayan need our help and support. Please Donate. Salamat.
